Sullivan and Nicolaides Pathology Bargaining 2022

Bargaining Update

Written by Alex Griffin | Mar 8, 2022 1:47:04 AM

Workers have been negotiating with Sullivan Nicolaides management since December last year.

In that time, members have attempted to negotiate for better entitlements for work life balance, career progression and fairer treatment.

Throughout the negotiations, SNP have instead argued that there should be cuts to the current entitlements that you enjoy as part of your Collective Workplace Agreement.

Though negotiators have been able to stop some of these cuts, in SNP management’s first proposal to workers they wanted to:

  • Remove the requirement to keep written records when managing performance
  • Reduce minimum engagement for part-time staff
  • Make career progression entirely at the employer’s discretion
  • Reduce long service entitlements
  • Remove cashing out of sick leave
  • Remove access to long service leave after seven years
  • Remove minimum payments for working on public holidays
  • Change the definition of shift work to make it nearly impossible for workers to qualify for shift work entitlements.

At the last negotiations, management acknowledged that there are still a lot of issues that haven’t been discussed yet.

Workers are concerned that management will offer a pay rise that won’t keep up with inflation, along with cuts to your entitlements and try to end negotiations there. Only a united group of workers can make a difference, get fair treatment, and stop cuts to your entitlements. You can:
