Negotiations Report Back - 22 March and 29 March

Your Blue Care delegates met again with management on 22 and 29 March.

They worked through your log of claims explaining the impact current wages and conditions had on recruitment and retention and the ability for Blue Care to be an employer of choice which provides quality care to clients.

We know your suggested improvements through your log of claims would help retain your highly qualified and dedicated colleagues at Blue Care.

Unfortunately, management appeared apathetic and uninterested in being an employer of choice. They have little understanding of what you do and showed no interest in learning. Blue Care management indicated that they are not concerned about professional standards or the ethical implications of providing and maintaining a professional service.

Blue Care management also disrespected your delegates by interrupting them and cutting them off on a number of occasions (although not so much during the 29 March meeting).

Do your colleagues, who are representing you and your interests, deserve to be treated this way?

Blue Care has tried to limit the amount of time spent by your representative team on preparing for negotiations. Blue Care have hired a full time contractor to run their agenda yet they only allow your colleagues at negotiations one work hour per fortnight to prepare for meetings. This means most of your delegates prep time is done on their own time.

Do you think it is right that Blue Care management want to restrict the time your delegates have to prepare to represent your interests?

If you want to change how Blue Care management are treating your representatives at negotiations and ensure you have a better chance at improving your pay and conditions - you need to stand together and support your negotiating team.

In the coming days you will receive in the mail a set of stickers. These are for you to wear and share with your colleagues.

Take a selfie by yourself or with a group and send it to peter.cattach@together.org.au.

Make sure your mailing details are up to date so that you receive your stickers! If you need extra stickers email peter.cattach@together.org.au and let us know how many you want.
